Interested in participating in a case competition this year?
Case competitions are one of the best ways to build real business skills, stand out to employers, and earn recognition along the way, but participating in your first one can feel intimidating. This hands-on event breaks down exactly how case competitions work and gives you a repeatable approach you can use to tackle any case with confidence.
In this interactive 2 hour session, you'll work through a real mock case as a team, moving from a messy business problem to a clear, persuasive recommendation.
What You'll Do
- Learn the case competition playbook:
- Understand the common formats, the loose team roles (Team Lead, Researcher, Strategist, Quant), and what judges are actually looking for.
- Work a realistic mock case:
- Team up to tackle an authentic UO business challenge, scaffolding your approach from understanding the problem to presenting your solution.
- Practice the full process:
- Move through the five step process great teams use; understand the problem, research and analyze, develop a hypothesis, build a recommendation, and present clearly.
- Discover the right tools:
- Get introduced to the research and analysis tools (from UO Libraries databases to AI tools) that give competitive teams an edge.
