Explore the financial side of commercial real estate and learn how to think like an investor.

The Commercial Real Estate Essentials Program takes you inside the process of evaluating property opportunities, forecasting value, and crafting client-ready recommendations—all through hands-on, data-driven activities.

Why Participate:

In this 8-hour, in-person program, you’ll gain practical experience analyzing a commercial property using the same tools and reasoning real estate professionals rely on every day. You’ll work through a complete deal cycle: assessing client needs, researching a property’s market, modeling its value, and developing a short pitch deck that supports an investment recommendation.

With guidance from an industry professional, you’ll interpret CoStar data, perform basic financial modeling, identify potential risks through due diligence, and deliver a data-supported client pitch. This immersive training provides both technical skill development and an understanding of the decision-making process that drives successful real estate transactions.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Earn a Marketable Skills Microcredential:
    • Demonstrate your applied analytical and communication skills by earning the Commercial Real Estate Essentials microcredential from the Lundquist College of Business.
  • Analyze Real-World Property Data:
    • Use professional tools and simplified financial models to determine a property’s current value, projected cash flows, and estimated future worth.
  • Understand Market Dynamics:
    • Interpret trends like vacancy rates, rental growth, and investment activity to support data-driven recommendations.
  • Conduct Due Diligence:
    • Learn how to identify red flags, such as deferred maintenance, outdated systems, or incomplete documentation, and assess how they affect value and deal structure.
  • Develop and Deliver a Client Pitch:
    • Build confidence communicating complex information by creating a concise, visually compelling pitch deck and email that align with client goals.
  • Practice Applied Decision-Making:
    • Engage in realistic group scenarios that mirror the fast-paced, problem-solving environment of commercial real estate transactions.

Whether you aspire to work in commercial real estate, finance, consulting, or entrepreneurship, this training will strengthen your ability to analyze data, interpret market conditions, and communicate insights that inspire client confidence—core skills for success in any business career.
